Introduction
A digital content delivery platform providing high-quality mountain bike photography from some of the most popular bike parks in the UK and Europe. Bike Park Photo is a personal project founded on the principle of blending two passions - mountain biking and photography.
Although numerous dedicated platforms exist for photographers to sell their photos, they do not offer the ability to customise the user experience in the way I wanted to, so I looked at building a bespoke solution on Shopify. This allowed me to effectively showcase my photos, whist having full control over the user journey.
Project
Challenges
My primary goal was to quickly and effectively showcase users' photos for easy purchase. The task of transferring hundreds of photos to Shopify posed a significant time burden, prompting me to build a custom app that could automate this process.
The app utilises EXIF information to categorise and tag each photo, generating a unique product within Shopify with multiple variants for various price breaks. This automated system expedites the addition of photos onto the site, allowing them to be available for purchase within a matter of hours following a photo session.
One of the key features of Bike Park Photo is a Pay What You Want pricing model, ensuring quality photography is accessible to all, irrespective of budget constraints. This model enables customers to pay a price that suits their financial situation, thus encouraging them to engage with the platform and its content on their own terms.
Project
Outcomes
The site has been very well received I've been and overwhelmed by the support I've received from bike parks and riders. I'm stoked to witness the project's evolution as I continue to refine and polish every aspect, and can't wait to see what lies ahead for bikeparkphoto.com.
